Google是否會區分Paid Link與Sponsor Link?

所謂Paid Link就是指付費連結,是Google規範中不被允許的連結,而Sponsor Link是指贊助廠商的連結,這兩種連結對於Google來講是一樣的嗎? 還是Google會區分這兩種連結的不同呢?

通常一個免費服務的網站都必須要有贊助廠商的Sponsor Link才可能存活下去,就算是大如Mashable或是TechCrunch,如果把贊助廠商的連結抽離的話,這些大站都可能會元氣大傷。但是Sponsor Link對於搜尋引擎而言,也是Paid Link嗎?

這篇”Updated: Google May Have Violated Its Own Paid Link Policy With Chrome Promo Campaign“提到,前陣子Google自己承認因為活動策畫出問題,而誤讓一些部落格上貼上付費連結連到Google Chrome的網站 (如下圖),最後自己懲罰自己的頁面降級60天。

這篇”Google Sending Warnings About “Artificial” Or “Unnatural” Links“則是提到Google再次強調有關人為連結的問題,許多網站都收到如下的內容:

We’ve detected that some of your site’s pages may be using techniques that are outside Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes.

We encourage you to make changes to your site so that it meets our quality guidelines. Once you’ve made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google’s search results.

If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request.

The majority of the increase in messages to webmasters is not due to messages about links. Rather, Google recently started sending messages to sites even for egregious or “blackhat” violations of our quality guidelines. The vast majority of the increase in messages is thus due to expanding the types of messages we send, not because of more warnings about links.

It is true that actions on link networks have been more visible lately, but there’s an important disclaimer to that. Google has been able to trace and take action on many types of link networks; we recently decided to make that action more visible. In the past, some links might have been silently distrusted or might not have carried as much weight. More recently, we’ve been surfacing the fact that those links aren’t helping to improve ranking or indexing.



OK,所以我們再回到開頭的疑問,Google是否會區分Paid Link與Sponsor Link?

很明顯的 … Google不會判斷Paid Link還是Sponsor Link,兩者都是違反Google規範的連結。

那麼也許你會問: 許多大站不是都有廣告嗎? 為什麼他們就可以刊登廣告,而小站加個幾個連結,也不過是維持網站的一個方式,為什麼Google就要處罰我呢?

這個問題可以從Matt Cutts大神的這篇”Text links and PageRank“來清楚的瞭解,Matt Cutts說到如下~

(1) At this point, someone usually asks me: “But can’t you just not count the bad links? On the, I see the words ‘Sponsored Resources’. Can’t search engines detect paid links?” Yes, Google has a variety of algorithmic methods of detecting such links, and they work pretty well. But these links make it harder for Google (and other search engines) to determine how much to trust each link. A lot of effort is expended that could be otherwise be spent on improving core quality (relevance, coverage, freshness, etc.).

有人問Matt Cutts說,為什麼Google不乾脆將paid link不予以計算就好了呢? Matt Cutts說Google的演算法可以做到,但是為了這些會影響更重要的核心運算 … 等等。

(2) Reputable sites that sell links won’t have their search engine rankings or PageRank penalized–a search for [daily cal] would still return However, link-selling sites can lose their ability to give reputation (e.g. PageRank and anchortext).

有信譽的網站如果有paid link會怎樣呢? Matt Cutts的意思是照樣處罰,但是這些處罰可能不會影響他們的排名,因為他們的相關性就是那麼強的啦。

(3) Using nofollow is a safe way to buy links, because it’s a machine-readable way to specify that a link doesn’t have to be counted as a vote by a search engine.

那麼如何才能夠有paid link而不要被處罰呢? 唯一的方式就是使用nofollow標記了,這個nofollow才能夠不會影響Pagerank的傳遞以及連結的計算。

(1) Google沒有辦法自動的不計算人造的連結,也就是只能在發現做假之後予以處罰降級。
(2) 如果你的網站被陷害,你只能循著正常管道向Google說明,請求重新評估。如果你也沒有發現已經被陷害,那是你自己的事情。如果你的網站競爭者很多的話,那麼你可能不會有好日子過,你必須隨時監看相關數據,否則可能會被陷害得莫名其妙。
(3) Google說對於大網站或是小網站都一視同仁,只要發現一律都會處罰,但是因為處罰大站可能對於搜尋排名不會有太明顯的影響,所以外界會認為對於大的網站過於寬容。但是其實根據觀察,Google對於大流量並且知名的網站,通常看不太到處罰的效果。
(4) 唯一可行辦法就是使用NoFollow在Paid Link上,才能免於被判斷為人造連結。但是使用NoFollow之後,誰願意付費呢? 那是你自己的問題了。

因此,我們也將在後續時間到期後結束贊助連結(Sponsor Link),也許Google已經忘記小網站是怎麼維持下來的,光是靠Google Adsense的話,可能小網站早已經橫屍遍野,這樣的遊戲規則實在不怎麼樣,如果你的網站沒能快速的獲利或是得到奧援,也許早一點關門比較痛快吧 … 也許不玩了就不需要管這些無聊的管理員守則了。
